Emo or scene cuts for black girls with pre-relaxed hair? PLEAES heLP? does it look good on african americans?

It looks amazing. I got my best guy friends to cut me bangs after my brothers cut my hair in my sleep. and they gave me these really emo bangs and i get them to cut them on a weekly basis and now I've grown own my hair (from ear length) to shoulder length and I got it professionally cut into a cut that looks like this:

http://www.prohaircut.com/Long_Shaggy_La...

today my guy friends say me for the first time in 2 weeks ( they had seen my hair before whenever it was shoulder length) And they said it look amazing. Oh yeah btw I have relaxed hair.

Don't do it, it doesn't look good on anyone.

Emo kids all look the same: stupid.

I think a Halle Berry-type cut (not the weird curly-lookin one, but the one that's mostly boyish but with long bangs)...similar to the cut Kelis has, or Dionne from the last season of ANTM, would look great--maybe a slightly punkier, spikier version, but that general cut. It's amazing how many different styles are possible with short hair--I would know, cos that's basically the cut I have (but I'm Caucasian, so it's a bit of a different story).

Jerrica had the best answer, she was RIGHT ON POINT.Im AA, w/a 4 month girl.Im glad u're seeking help.It pains me to see mixed kids whose mothers dont know how to do their hair,so consequently,it always looks a mess.Anyway,if you follow her advice, youll be good to go!!! Report It

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

Go to an African American neighbor hood... get some gel or oil... you could give him/her a perm later on in a lifetime... or add extensions.

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

best to have one of your black friends teach you to braid, it will be needed though out the childs life..

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

i have a bi-racial child and she has hair that is more the texture of mine but it is very curly. the products for African Americans always made her hair too greasy or weighed it down. even the Light Pink Lotion. So what works for me is washing her hair and putting a little bit of regular hair gel (like i use) in it while it is wet and then "lightly" misting it with a spritz. this makes her hair have the cutest ringlets. if you have trouble with frizz, i have have lots of luck using a product called bio silk. it is kinda expensive but worth it

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

Please don't relax the child's hair (or as the other user put it, "give him/her a perm"). It is highly damaging.

You can wash his/her hair as you would a white baby's hair, but you should probably use conditioner by itself more than you use conditioner AND shampoo. Also, remember not to pile all of his/her hair on top of his/her head as you wash it. Curly hair is much more prone to tangling than straight.

I agree with the poster who mists her baby's hair when she styles. The Biosilk also seems like a good idea. If it really does seem too expensive, Sally Beauty Supply offers a generic version of Biosilk which, in my opinion, is just as good--if not better. Remember, it is important to keep black hair well-moisturized.

http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/1215/264...

I would avoid alcohol-based gels. Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme is a good product for controling little boy/little girl curls:

http://missjessies.com/products.htm

Another thing i'd avoid is rubber bands or scrunchies. Try Goody Ouchless elastics.

http://www.goody.com/Html/GroovyGirls/Fl...

If your baby is a girl, pay attention to how other mommies style their children's hair. Because your baby's hair may seem more thick and unruly than your hair, you will probably want to style her hair in several ponytails rather than just one or two all of the time. On the run, it is really great to be able to brush still-wet hair into an afro puff, but if you rely too much on afro puffs, you could end up tangling her hair.

The following book should give you some styling ideas:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060934...

If the child's hair ends up becoming very curly, and it becomes difficult for you to style her hair, I would wash it, moisturize it, and slowly comb through the hair, being careful to avoid tangling. Without the use of elastics, separate the hair into lots of sections and twist the hair into what are called "two strand twists."

They look like this:

http://www.nubiankinks.com/images/twist_...

Allow the hair to air-dry this way, and it will be easier to style later, as you will have stretched tighter curls into looser curls. Also, plenty of people wear their hair like this as a style, especially if it is thick and long. (If you style your child's hair like this using elastics, the style can be worn for a few days before you have to wash it and start over.)

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

My children are bi-racial, my daughter has fine hair, while my son has course hair. I use the Lusters Pink Lotion and it seems to work for both my childrens hair types. Give it a try, if it doesnt work you will only be out about $ 3.89

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

I also have a mixed child, he is 6 months old and at the time has straight fine hair. I understand that it gets kinky and unmanagable at times but thats no need to find someone to braid it because the child does not have white or black peoples hair. The best way to find out how to manage it would most likely be trail and error. Start off by getting gel or oil and if it doesn't work try something new. The decision is on you and if you cna't handle it then ask someone for help around you. Good Luck

I have a half white half african american baby how to take care of their hair. its diffrent then mine?

I am Bi-Racial and have twice as much hair as most people I know. My parents constantly kept my hair in braids as a child, my grandmother could braid my hair tight as hell and it was painful. Later I started relaxing it thinking that this was the way to go, relaxing really damages and dries it out.

Now that I am an adult I can manage my hair with almost no fuss. I wash it every three days and condition it daily. The most important thing I have learned is not to comb through my hair with a plastic comb or brush this just pulls and breaks the hair. While the conditioner is still in my hair I quickly run my fingers through it looking for any big tangles and just work them out by hand. After my hair is pretty much free of major snarles I rinse the conditioner out and put some styling creme or gel on it. Stay away from greasy oily products, just find a light styling creme or lotion that will dry with no residue.

Be careful not to comb it through and disturb the natural curl patterns. Just evenly distribute it with your hands. I either air dry it or hit it with the blowdryer on low. I get lots of compliments on my hair every day! I am so glad that I have left the relaxers and combs in the past and just learned to love my natural locks.

Good Luck with your UNIQUE baby:)

How to perm african american hair?

Well, I will tell you I know how not to. The hair is thick, too thick to do it at home with one friend, the solution does not get put on in a timely matter. I think CHI is a great idea, it makes your hair soft, lasts a long time, looks natural. It is expensive, I have it done at 450.00 a whack, get it done every 8 months or so. I am a white girl with super duper curly hair, I keep it long and like it straight, then curl it how I want. I will never go back to curl again. Rats nest is what it was. I felt like a troll doll, short, small, thin, and then this big lblast of hair. Cripes. Good riddens to it. It would grow outward b4 down. CHI here is a pic of what can be done:

http://www.best5star.com/CHI/chi.html

I don't know this salon but it demonstrates the CHI. It cannot be done at home because you need the kit and need to know how to do it and it takes about 4 hours.

The flat iron is used when doing this permanent straightening but the flat iron alone will not do it. It is like a perm by the way. So I thik I am answering the question, however long windedly. Sp.

Good luck to you.

How to perm african american hair?

use **** on your hair

I'm an African-American. What product do I use to get the waves out of my hair?

I used to think it was cool now it just seems immature. How do I get my hair to be just plain straight.

I'm an African-American. What product do I use to get the waves out of my hair?

Um brush it out don't sleep with a du-rag on or your hair or it will be wavy you could get a perm but before you say no it will stay straight and it will lay flat and when you get it shaped up it will always look on point

I'm an African-American. What product do I use to get the waves out of my hair?

The curly hair is in your gene. Unless you use the flat hair iron

to iron it flat every week, I have not heard any other method to straighten the curly hair.

I'm african american & i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage m

I have relaxed hair and i want to get highlights done professionally, although i know they typically use bleach. My hair is very healthy despite a few split ends. Would bleach damage my hair a lot and if so is there something else they use at salons not containing bleach or thats less harmful as bleach? Or if i do get foil highlights using bleach is there a deep conditionong treatment that would restore my hairs nutrients and prevetnt breakage?

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

try to go to a stylist who doesn't use bleach. it is possible to highlight your hair without using bleach. also, having relaxed hair and also getting some color added to it will damage your hair, even if just a little. make an appointment with a stylist in your hair and discuss your concerns with him/her. good luck

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

there is loreal hair dye that deep condishions your hair to

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

Bleach would damage your relaxed hair. Any chemical process, whether it's a relaxer, color, perm or highlights alters the integrity of the hair. Think of it as "controlled" damage. But, if it's done right, you shouldn't get breakage. Talk to the professional who relaxed your hair about it. If you do your relaxer at home, then find a professional with a good reputation and have a consultation with them. If you see someone, or know someone with relaxed hair, and they have highlights. Ask them where they get it done. Even if they are a stranger, people usually consider it a compliment. Once your hair is chemically treated, you can never restore it back to a healthy hair follicle. Conditioners and treatments are only cosmetic. There is no such thing as "rebuilding the hair".

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

Even though your hair is pretty healthy now, having a chemical process done on top of another chemical process can lead to damage, such as hair breakage and extreme dryness of the hair and scalp. I used to get highlights all the time in high school, and my stylist suggested I use children's relaxers after the coloring was done - mainly because the chemicals wouldn't be as strong as in an "adult" relaxer. Secondly, regardless if you get highlights done by foil or "cap and hook" method, the stylist should suggest you deep condition your hair at least once a month, and also use conditioning shampoos and conditioners to keep the hair mosturized. They will also use one on your hair after coloring it, as well. But, notice I said it "can" lead to damage, but doesn't have to. By keeping your hair mosturized, and using a good line of grease and other hair products (I prefer Motions) can really keep the health of your hair up.

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

bleach damages anybody's hair. you should get it done professionaly by a hair stylist that doesn't use bleach. it's possible

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American W

Or simply have some patience %26amp; let the hair grow back at it's own pace - natural way is always the best

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

My hair completely broke off about a year and a half ago and since then ive been using Doo Gro growth products. IT WORKS between using that and braiding my hair to keep from putting heat on it but hairs grown back thick and healthy. I can get doo gro products at beauty supply stores, CVS and some wal- marts. I suggest that you use the full line which includes growth stumulators hair thickeners etc and its not too expensive. It consists of different shampoos, conditioners, hair oils and cremes.

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

Use Dr.Grow it comes in a brown box with a shadow of a african american doctor on it. Depending on where you live, you can find it in any black haircare store. You can use doo grow but be prepared cuz it stinks, smells so bad.

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

u can use Dr miracle or doo grow because doo grow work for me and they have different type for ure condition

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

It depends on what made your hair fall out in the first place? Was it chemical damage, tension (braids), stress, medication...etc. All of these things can have a different affect on the hair as well as a different solution to the problem. I would advise seeking the opinion of a professional stylist that has a reputation for great hair care. (be sure to check out her/his hair first...if they can't take care of there own hair, they can't possibly offer you any resolution!)

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

Either Doo Gro hair products or Dr. Miracles hair products or Mane 'N Tail hair products.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pre

Hello, I Recently Got My Hair Pressed For My Birthday 1 week or so ago. I was wondering what types of hairstyles I can do for my hair because I can't think of anything so I just keep putting it in a ponytail. So what I basically need is hairstyles to go to school with (I can't use gel or my natural hair will come back). My hair is normal length for a black girl so its like a few inches before my shoulder bone like where your throat is but it's not long enough to reach my shoulder. So if you can tell me what hairstyles to do and how to do it. I go to a Catholic school in the Bronx that consist of mostly Hispanics and Blacks( I Dont Know If That Will Help Anything Or Not So...)

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

normal length for a black girl? i guess i must be strange and abnormal because my hair is past my shoulders.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

you could try putting it up in a bun or something

or just anything you couldnt do when it was curly

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

If I were you I'd just wrap it. At night wrap your hair (in a circle around your head) and then in the morning comb it down. It'll keep your hair straighter longer, and you won't need to use any heat on it b/c your skull acts like a big roller. Go to www.motionshair.com and they tell you how to wrap your hair.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

flat iron your hair and wear a wrap. Their are a lot of books out there for black hair styles.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

well im a balkk teen and i would vave it by putting braids in it and sleeping overnight in them and then take them out in the morning or you can scrunch it

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

Try wearing it down and curl the ends downward with a curling iron or wear rollers at night on the ends.

http://www.blackhairmedia.com/hairstyles...

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

Lol. Have fun with your hair - it's the most versatile out there. You could wear it down; half up, half down; have cornrows at the sides and a quiff in the middle, and tie it down (Fergie from Black Eyed Peas had something similar); part your hair just off center and have one side with cornrows (kinda like what Nicole from The Pussy Cat Dolls had last year); have a fringe; tie the top half up and divide the bottom vertically and make it into two braids. It's hard to explain in words, but if you're stuck for inspiration think about music artists and actors (check out Kyla Pratt's hair styles in early episodes of One on One) and take bits of what you like!

Have fun!!

As an african american women who has a relaxer, i find it diffic. to keep my hair after sex. any sug

by 'keep', i mean keep my hair looking nice as if i just have gotten it straightened...please only answer if you know from experience

As an african american women who has a relaxer, i find it diffic. to keep my hair after sex. any suggestions?

As an African Canadian I really can relate to the whole hair after sex problem!!! Really I would just wear a scarf or a headband during sex...it's the only way for it to keep after sex. I usually just accept the fact that after sex my hair is going to look rough so I just straighten it after or put on a hat or headband or scard.

As an african american women who has a relaxer, i find it diffic. to keep my hair after sex. any suggestions?

Is a 'relaxer' what I think it is?

As an african american women who has a relaxer, i find it diffic. to keep my hair after sex. any suggestions?

if your hair is still neat after sex he hasnt performed very well....

As an african american women who has a relaxer, i find it diffic. to keep my hair after sex. any suggestions?

really not trying to be rude here, but why not try a different position, one where your head does not rest on the bed or pillow....

As an african american women who has a relaxer, i find it diffic. to keep my hair after sex. any suggestions?

Why not try putting it in a ponytail if its long enough or a doo-rag. I'm sorry to inform you but no black woman is going to have that 'Farrah Fawcett sexy tousled I've just had sex hair.' Its always gonna stick up at unattractive angles.....

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

Just wondering....

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

Good question! I used to wonder myself lol. Its different because of geographic location, climates etc that our ancestors had to adapt to in the 2 continents of Europe and Africa. In europe the majority climate is cold, and the people of this region had hair that lays straight down covering ears and falling on the neck (Asian hair does the same but the color and strand thickness is different) . Also if u notice some people of European desent often times have lighter eyes; a trait common in caucasion people (of course many people are of mixed origin so its a bit different currently). African American people of have hair of all sorts of textures due to the diaspora, however the tighly coiled hair dark hair was an adaptation to living in the hot climates of Africa. There was no need for hair to fall downward due to the weather and their hair grew up and out making it appear "shorter" and lambswool like. When gently pulled out, the true length is very evident. There are also many anthropological source you could check out also, but i hope this helps :-) !

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

i dont know... good question...

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

What a cool question iv always wondered the answer to this. If anyone knows you would be helping me too.

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

umm ...not to be rude but im not black nor white im tan....but there hair color is black (african) b-cuz there black i guess nd white ppl have blonde hair cuzz they dont look good in black i guess idk good question though

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

cuz every race is different like asians have very thinn hair most mexicans have blacknhair ect.

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

Lol, even better question... why are their arpit hairs like little afros. And what does their pubic hair look like?

Hmmm :D Just kidding!

...i'm going to hell.

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

Because every race has different features and thats just the way God made them

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

Because it's in their race's genetic build up.

Think of asians, all of them have dead straight, black hair.

Irish people are pale and alot have red or blonde hair.

Latino people are tanned.

Chinese people are tiny.

It's just how people were made. And nothing to do with the people IN GENERAL.

African american people tend to have coarse hair. But alot of australians, white americans, or other races do sometimes aswell.

That's just how it is.

Why are African Americans people hair different from White peoples hair?

I dunno the answer to that one, but someone in an answer commented on the underarm hair. I always wondered my most black women never shaved their arm pits. I didn't know if it was some kind of french wanna-be thing or what?

But I later found out since their hair is so kinky that when they shave it tends to curl back in and give them ingrown hair on their pits. Ouch... so I try my best not to be grossed out now in summer when you see them in tank tops, cuz no one likes ingrown hair or razor burn on their pits.

Sorry not the answer to your question, but an FYI for other people lol

my bestfriend loves having her hair donw with small lairs and she has short hair with samll waves aswell

What is a nice relaxer for very short semi curly hair? Im of African and Native American back ground.?

whatever you do dont get a relaxer from the store it will take your hair completely out. if this is your first relaxer please, please, please go to professional have them look at the texture of your hair and decide. if they want to use a box relaxer on your head run out of there like crazy.

What is a nice relaxer for very short semi curly hair? Im of African and Native American back ground.?

Use either Dr. Miracles Relaxer or Revlon Realistic Relaxer or Luster's Pink Relaxer.

The reason why it's probably hard for your hair to become bone straight is the smoothing process of the relaxer. You must apply the relaxer with a relaxer (perm) brush then smooth it with your hand.

What is a nice relaxer for very short semi curly hair? Im of African and Native American back ground.?

someone mentioned motions.........motions is not good at all.......trust me i know i have 2 cousins who have their own salons. dont use motions.

the best relaxer to use is affirm relaxers from sally's beauty or optimum care relaxers

My hair is very thick and my ends are trimmed but on my right side seems like my ends are still split as if it is damaged and its not as thick as the rest of my hair. Is there a way to repair it i don't think its severly damaged or do I need to cut my hair short right now it is shoulder length.

I am an african american woman and needed to know is there a way to repair damaged hair?

Giirrrll....why dont you try Queen Helen's Hot Oil Treatment (tube), Queen Helen's Cholesterol Deep Conditioner (jar), or Cholesterol Protein Treatment. All of these products are perfect for infusing your hair with moisture, avoiding breakage, and repairing dead ends. These are alternatives in case you cant make it to the hair salon. Use olive oil, Shine Booster (repairs and avoids damage), or Dr Miracle (his products are awesome and give you a tingling sensation---that way you know its working!) I hope i helped!

How do I get my hair to a good wet style for african american?

My all time favorite hair stuff line is Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine. They have a really cool wet gel, get extra strong. It's suuuuper awesome. I so think the leave in cream and hair serum is useless if you already have the shampoo, conditioner, and gel. It doesn't dry your hair out and a little goes a long way. It's by far better than Pantene, Herbal Essences, Sunsilk, Suave, and other popular hair brands.

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

Like i told another girl who wanted to know what she can use to make her hair grow. Its a greasecalled Dont Be Bald it comes in a blue container its the original theres one in the red container its medicated with sulfer 8 to relieve dandruff and itching. Theres also some stuff called wonder 8 oil. The grease will make your hair thick and the oil makes your hair grow giving you length. Its also in the conidtioner you use to when you wash and blow dry your hair. You can get all off the stuff i just told you about from either a chinese store that sells hair weave or sallys. Buy you some lil bottles off protein to mix in your conditioner their only like 59 cents a tube. Gurl i tried to get a job at the casino and they had to cut out a chunk of my hair for a drug test gurl. Trust me this works.

Pills: GNC makes an awesome nail/hair dietary supplement that also helps circulation. I love it - it's about 8.50. I suggest you get the smaller bottle, because it has smaller pills.

Grease: Don't. Grease clogs the pores on your scalp and also disturbs the production of sebum, or natural oil.

Oils: If you go to the beauty supply store, in the ethnic care section, there are many hair oils that you can use to stimulate your scalp. These were extensively covered in an issue of Black Hair (of Hype Hair), the one with LeToya Luckett on the cover.

Sprays: Pick a simple oil sheen that works for you. I alternate between two - Olive Oil oil sheen, and Pantene's Relaxed and Natural oil sheen (which smells good).

Regular routines: Try to spread out your relaxers to 10 weeks. It's good for your hair and your wallet, because you'll only be getting five a year. Avoid consistent use of heat tools like flat irons and blow dryers. If you can't live without them, be SURE you use products that are specifically designed to protect African-American hair from heat damage. That was covered in the magazine as well.

Also, try to avoid certain types of extensions. Micro braids, if kept in for too long, will damage your edges. Ponytails that need pinning can damage your scalp if the pins are pushed in too far.

Buena suerte!

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

dont comb so much, dont brush so much, get hot oil treatment once a week, dont wash it so much, use super gro. This will help.

Also, use a hot comb to straighten it (but coat it in super gro first) then you can comb it and brush it with less breakage. I have done this, it works!

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

Triming your hair to get rid of the spilt-ends, helps your hair appear healthy and it will make it grow healthier.

A steady routine of Vitamins like A %26amp; E, gives your hair the nourishment to grow. Proper diet (no junk food) and plenty of water are the keys to great skin, hair and nails.

If your hair as a tendency to be dry and break off, keep it moisturized but do wash your hair regularly.

Stay away from products that contain waxes, like dimethicone, these give you "false" softness and don't really moisturize and thus contribute to hair breakage because you think your hair is smooth and soft. Don't laugh, but there is a product that was marketing for horses that people swear by (something like horse %26amp; mane shampoo). It's sold in beauty supply stores.

Try going natural if you can. Avoid chemicals, if you must get a relaxer make sure your hair is deeply conditioned (without waxes) beforehand.

Use only essential oils (like KEMI products).

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

what i used to get my hair to grow quickly was i kept my ends trimmed and healthy. i used prenatal viteamins and i often use the oils that the african hair braiders use in the shops...whatever that oil is it had do wonders to the growth of my hair.

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

Try to not comb and brush your hair unless its necessary. Deep condition your hair everytime you wash it. Eat really well and take a multi vitamin. Drink plenty of water it hydrates your body and your hair. Make sure you sleep on a satin pillowcase or wear a silk scarf to bed. Use heat as little as possible. When you wash your hair let it air dry and then flat iron it straight instead of blowdrying. Do protective hair styles in the winter like braids buns etc... That's about all thatI've been doing for the past two yrs and now have hair up to the middle of my bach of bra strap length. Know it takes time though.

It fell out drastically and it had to be cut short but that's been over a year ago and there still isn't any significant growth! My hair isn't even pass my neck! I would like to know what products I can use that would stimulate hair growth and any other tips %26amp; advice that you all have to offer!

Thanks!

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

im not sure, but my mom got a perm once a loong time ago and her hair has NEVER been the same texture... : /

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

For a year now? Truthfully I wouldn't know how to help. But I'd recomend go seeing like a doctor.

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

well i have a lot of facts because i am also African American so my hair and your hair is very fragile so what you might want to do is use any kind of moisturizer for your hair as much as you can to keep it healthy.. because i use to straighten my hair everyday but then i broke off all my hair (( was not pretty )) so i just stopped damaging my hair as mush as possible to help it grow back ...i also heard that scratching your scalp stimulates you blood therefor your hair will most likely grow ..so i know this sounds weird but massage your head and maby that will help !

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

this has happened to ever person i kno that has used a perm.

try ''doctor miracle''...they advertised it alot on tv.

most people that i kno that has very short hair, keeps their hair braided.it helps 2

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

Ah, I'm sorry. If the problem is it actually growing, you may want to take some vitamins cus hair grows from the inside so the perm didn't affect how it grows. Prenatal vitamins are supposed to be really good for growing healthier hair. There's nothing that can make hair grow faster, just healthier and healthy hair is stronger. Also remember, hair grows 1/2 an inch a month, so just hang in there, and every few months you can get a small trim just to slowly cut away all of the damaged hair without having to go too short. In the mean time, you can get some good conditioning treatments They're sold lots of places and usually pretty cheap. Good luck, hope this helped.

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

I think the hair growth question should go on between you %26amp; your hairstylist. You will have to be patient.

-Wrap your hair at night!! If you sleep wild w/out wrapping..the chances of your hair breaking is likely!!

Put on a silk or satan scarf..I would refrain from cotton

because it can deduct natural oil from your hair.

Dont forget to trim your hair monthly..

I'm an african american teenager %26amp; ever since I got a perm about 4 yrs ago my hair has been in bad shape...

This happened to me once I think you have damaged your hair follicles more than likely. You might try scalp treatments to get the blood flowing back to your scalp blood nourishes the follicles, faster hair growth.Scalp treatments include a deep conditioner with heat and scalp massage. Also cut way back on blow drying and using curling or flat irons. Use conditioner every time you shampoo if possible stop using hair products, stay out of chlorinated pools, and sun. You need to give your scalp and hair a break and help it recover.

I am an African American, what products can I use on my hair to keep my ends from splitting.?

I had this horrible problem before and also asked the same questions. Split ends happen because the hair is drier at the ends, and the dryness causes the ends to split up the shaft.

First of all do get your ends trimmed before they keep riding up. 6 to 8 weeks is good. I trim my own layered hair with salon scissors (you can purchase at Sally's, Walgreen's, CVS, otherwise go to the salon for trim). Next, make sure you use a heat protectant when applying heat to your hair. Ends tend to split more in the winter than summer, because of the dryness so keep your ends conditioned. Also, use the heat as less as possible. If you use a curling iron, try heat rollers because they are less damaging to your ends. If you use a blowdryer invest in a hooded blow dryer because it is also less damaging to your hair. Excessive heat creates more dryness and that increases split ends. Most importantly, vigorous combing or brushing increase split ends so try to brush as less as possible to avoid that fuzzy ended look (split ends).

Suggested products: L'ANZA Daily Elements Leave In Conditioner. It has keratin which makes it easier for the hair to penetrate (or any good leave in conditioner) . Heat protectant (like Aveda' Brilliant Damage Control or Motions Heat Protector). Hair steamer and DEEP conditioner once a week because it locks in the moisture and becomes even more effective with the deep conditioner. Good luck!!

I am an African American, what products can I use on my hair to keep my ends from splitting.?

Aphogee, Kera Care, and Mizani have some great products to repair and protect damaged hair. I get relaxers and I'm trying not to put any heat on my hair. I did an Aphogee treatment for damaged hair a couple of weeks ago and I mean it really works. My hair was soft but the ends were a lot stronger. Doing this every 6 weeks really works. I would suggest you take a look at these products and stop using any heat appliances to your hair. Also remember to go and get your ends trimmed every 6 weeks to get rid of the split ends.

I am an African American, what products can I use on my hair to keep my ends from splitting.?

What I use is apple cider vinegar and pure coconut oil. Take 2 tbls. in a glass of water 2-3 x day or if dieting, before a meal. Hair and nails will grow super long. Pure coconut oil is the greatest conditioner for skin and hair. Just a dime sized amount is all that is needed for beautiful hair. Both are very inexpensive and at the grocery store.

IS hair conditioner essensial in Natrual african american hair?

??? Does it make a diffwerence

IS hair conditioner essensial in Natrual african american hair?

definately!

we as african americans have problems with our hair getting dry, and its even worse with natural styles like fros, braids, dreads, etc.

so conditioning the hair becomes even more important when you have natural styles.

in addition to the conditioner you use, try olive oil or coconut oil. it works great. keeps the hair moisturized and healthy.

if you dont condition it, it will be rough, dry, and brittle, which causes more breakage and hinders the growth process.

go to the beauty supply store and look for some good products for natural african american hair. or ask your stylist what they recommend.

good luck :)

IS hair conditioner essensial in Natrual african american hair?

First of all...African hair is African hair. In other words, don't think just because you're American means your hair is different from all other ***** hair. And natural is natural. Yes, conditioner is essential and so is making sure it isn't dry. So oil it well.

Next time when posing a question about your hair, ixnay on the 'African-American' description. African is just fine. Understand???????

IS hair conditioner essensial in Natrual african american hair?

yes and no...for some it is, for others it isn't. everyone's hair reacts differently to different routines and/or products.

i haven't really used conditioner for awhile now and my hair is actually better (probably because i'm using natural products now). I haven't found a natural conditioner that i like, but i do deep condition my hair once a month with organic root stimulator's replenishing conditioner. other than that i use shikai everyday shampoo and that's moisturizing enough for my hair because it doesn't contain any of the drying agents that some other shampoos contain.

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out the

Call me. Dr Jet will take care of you. Satisfaction guaranteed!

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

PARNEVU FOR EXTRA DRY HAIR....GET IT AT ANY LOCAL DRUGSTORE/WALMART/WALGREENS/ETC

it works magic...

For a good rinse out conditioner (after you shampoo) use something thick...there are a lot of good ones (esp. Aveda brands)

and also...after you condition, use a restorative treatment. Pantene Pro V for women of color have a good one; Pantene also has a "restorative treatment" that you leave in for 5 minutes then rinse...makes your hair heathy, soft and smooth. good luck!!!

Loreal(can't spell it) Paris is soooooooooo good. Get the pink one. Makes youhair soft, shiny and silky!

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

Yes... Biolage (by Matrix) hydrating balm. It is fabulous for deep conditioning the hair. It is more moisturizing than the regulars!! =)

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

i'm an afro-american too and i use pantene pro-v and dove. they both do wonders for my hair. try it out. it just might work. also you can try out Dr. Miracle's products. that's the best for me.

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

After coming rinsing your hair in the shower, comb some Olive oil through your hair and wrap your hair in a warm towel. If you have a stand dryer, sit under the dryer for 10-20 minutes (depending on how much conditioning you need). Afterwards, either rinse the excess oil out of your hair, or style as usual.

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

Use the Fantasia product by IC. They have a whole line of products. I found them to be the best especially there tea leave shampoo.

Garnier Fructis makes a really good one.

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

I'm not african american, but I use a product from the section of the store that sells african american hair products and it's a deep conditioning treatment called cholesterol. I love it-it works great. I have dry coarse hair that I bleach platinum blonde.

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

Hello girl!

I have the weirdest hair on the planet. If it's wet it's curly and shrinks up to right above my shoulders.

If it's dry it's down my back and I get the "You get a weave" question.

It's thick, unruly, gets dry and brittle and makes me want to poke my eyes out.

It's taken years of spending a mini fortune on beauty products to find out one thing:

You can use virtually any conditioner. The trick is to get in the shower, wash your hair immediately, COAT it with conditioner, comb it through really well and THEN take your shower.

If you are like most women we take a little while to beautify in the shower. I would suggest trying this on "shave day" so he warm and humid air makes the conditioner work like magic.

By the time you are ready to get out the shower, the conditioner would of soaked for a minimum of 10 minutes, penetrating the shaft to add moisture (what your hair is missing).

I personally use Pantene for women of color, Bio-lage products and the Cat walk stuff (you know, GOT2be, RockStar normally sold at any chinese store fronting like a black hair care haven, lol)

Good Luck, I can feel your pain!

Diva

P.S. - I have pictures here so you can see how well this process works: http://photos.yahoo.com/ph/nycshortie72/...

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

i like the organic root stimulator deep penetrating conditioner...its made with olive oil and it comes in a little green packet....it works really good

I am a african american and i need to deep condition my hair. Are there any good conditioners out there?

use mayonaisse. just comb it through your hair, leave it in for an hour or two, and wash it out.

After washing with cream of nature shampoo, put olive oil and mayo on your hair, cover with a shower cap and rinse after 20 mins. Viola!!!

My son is african american with very curly (not kinky at all) hair. How do I start dreadlocks for hi

You should really go to a professional to start the dreads. If he is african american, he has some kink to his hair and the hair will eventually lock. Dreadlocks are not gross if they are maintained. We're not talking about the homeless type dreadlocks, which DO stink. If they are maintained properly, he'll be fine. I would suggest watching the stylist - you may be able to maintain them yourself after a few visits of watching them style them. By the way, one disadvantage that you MUST mention to your son is that when he gets tired of them, he has to start fresh with a low cut, since once the hair is locked, it is locked.

My son is african american with very curly (not kinky at all) hair. How do I start dreadlocks for him?

You can start them with the two strand twists or with gel twists depending on his hair type. The gel twists might be better if he has curly hair because they will hold better.

My son is african american with very curly (not kinky at all) hair. How do I start dreadlocks for him?

why o why would you want to do that? dreadlocks look so gross!

My son is african american with very curly (not kinky at all) hair. How do I start dreadlocks for him?

Since his hair is already curly, there are several methods. Like a previous posted stated, you can start off with twists. Another method is backcombing. Personally I think dreads are gross is when folks with "straight" hair adds all kinds of garbage to start locks. Sorry kids but you are better off getting done by a pro. No use smelling like untreated sewer. Unlike them, your son can shampoo his hair as normal, just skip the creamy based shampoos. In fact just get the Jamaica Mango N' Lime hair care line and he should be good to go. There are several websites that have good info on how to start and maintain locks. Just use google it.

Any One got some style ideas??

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

Natural hair has a wide variety of options.. Good 2 see you're natural and are taking the healthy route rather than burning/relaxing and damaging your hair.

Check out the forums @ http://www.nappturality.com and also @ http://www.motowngirl.com for lots of tips, styling ideas, and pictures of hairstyles.

You can do flat twists, straw sets, 2 strand twists, twist-outs, cornrows, roller set,

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

Twists or a straw set are good alternatives.

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

get it chemically relaxed? thats what i do and it looks gorgeous! I'm sure it would on you also! you could also get a weave, or cornrows. or if its not to out of controll, put mousse in it and wear it down or with a headband. . . thats in now!!

good luck!

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

yeah i got one that is really cute and will draw some attention.....

get your hair braided up into a mohawk and fluff out the left over hair from the braids then spray a little bit of oil sheen and it will look great!!!!

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

Maybe you should do braids and then pull them into a ponytail.

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

You could flat iron your hair so you can try it temporarely straight.

You could also try rollersetting it.

Or you could try wearing it in a small afro by just putting a headband in front.

I hope you find something that works for you. Good Luck!

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

I suggest straw sets, wet sets, updo's. These 3 styling techniques offer alot of options. Also, if your parents will allow you see apply a rinse to your hair. Most parents may not allow a permanent dye but rinses deposit color, and wash out in 6-8 washes.

The link below I provided also has a hairstyle gallery for natural hair, and children.

Is hair cholestorol a good product for african american hair. does deep condition or sit on the hair

the Shea butter w/ mango cholestorol is the only one that really works for my hair. I put it in as a pre-poo then again as a deep conditioner. The placenta and carrot oil ones dry my hair more than moisturize

Is hair cholestorol a good product for african american hair. does deep condition or sit on the hair shaft?

I personally don't like that conditioner. It doesn't do anything for my hair. Pantene conditioner works wonders.

Is hair cholestorol a good product for african american hair. does deep condition or sit on the hair shaft?

I am Puerto Rican and have natural spiral curls and my hair tends to be really dry at times. First If you have coarse hair don't wash everyday. I use "ION" hair re constructor. You can buy it at a Sally Beauty Salon depending where you live but that stuff is off the chain.

Is hair cholestorol a good product for african american hair. does deep condition or sit on the hair shaft?

It just sits on the hair shaft. If you want repair buy the Ion series Moisturizer from Sally's

My nice would like to have longer hair but when it gets so long it frizzes out. What can we do about this? Is there something we can use to pevent this?

I have a nice that is 6 and is half African American. Her mom is having a hard time with her hair being dry?

Well for one- she doesn't need her hair washed everyday. Please don't wash it every day or every other day. Once a week or once every 2 weeks should be good enough. Also, deep condition it. Aveda has a great deep conditioner which works the best on my hair- I am 1/2 black as well. Some people also use hot oil treatments but she's 6 and she probably won't need that as much yet. After she washes it use olive oil and frizz-ease and she needs to keep her hair moisturized!!! Don't use petrolium or something that has mineral oil listed in the first 5 ingredients because it only coats the hair and then dries it out super fast.

I have a nice that is 6 and is half African American. Her mom is having a hard time with her hair being dry?

warm hair oil massage once a week really helps

I have a nice that is 6 and is half African American. Her mom is having a hard time with her hair being dry?

Try weekly conditioning. Get a shower cap and smother the hair with conditioner. Then put on the shower cap and leave the conditioner in for about half and hour to an hour. Then rinse it out. It keeps it full of moisture.

I have a nice that is 6 and is half African American. Her mom is having a hard time with her hair being dry?

you could tell your neice's mom to start using Aussie shampoo because they have shampoos for african american hair. This is the Aussie shampoos that they recommened for african american hair:

The aussie moist collection. Try moist shampoo, moist conditioner, deeeeep 3 minute miracle moisture treatment and moist leave in creme.

Aussie is a good hair company brand and it is also animal testing free!!!

goood luck!!

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

Anyone else with similar hair have suggestions for good shampoo/conditioning/moisturizing products?

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

My routine...

Aphogee-Shampoo

Redken- Conditioner- Soft

Biolage- Daily Leave-In Conditioner

Carol's Daughter- Lisa's Leave in Elixer

Aphogee- Deep Conditioner/Protein Treatment (every six weeks)

Organic Root Stimulator- Lock %26amp; Twist Gel or Gyeue- Hair Gel

or....

Pure olive oil works well as a moisturizer with any shampoo/conditioner for dry/damaged hair dabbed on with a cotton ball

plus..

you don't want to use just ANY shampoo and/or conditioner because it can be drying to your hair be sure to use ONLY products that have protein or add moisture. Don't be skimpy on the price either because you often pay for what you fet. And finally...hair gel can be your enemy and your best friend. Be careful and use different brands if you wish to smooth the ends. I've tried a lot of different products myself and the above mentioned gels have been god-sends to me.

GOOD LUCK!

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

I would go to a salon and have them do something with it and give you some tips. For some reason, whenever I step out of a salon, no matter what they do my hair feels beautiful.

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

use the 'motions' line. and put some hair grease in it (b%26amp;b)to make it soft.

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

I wish I had your texture - I heard it's best for dreads. My hair does not dread at all.

Try not to wash or wet your hair too much.

Wash with baby shampoo once a week

Use Olive oil and wrap in a warm towel for 20 minutes once a week.

Use a mixture of one part vitamin E oil, Castor oil, Shea butter and a teaspoon of pure melted bee wax nightly. Massage it into the scalp.

For public appearances spray with detangler and finger comb.

The texture should improve in 3 weeks.

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

LOL, There is so much info out as to how to change one's hair that people have forgotten how to take care of their Natural.

Shampoo, it doesn't really matter what you are using. Be sure to add the conditioner. Cholesterol treatments are excellent too. You can add the Cholesterol and get under the hair dryer too. Products, Lady Hilda, Pink oil Moisturizer and and Indian hemp are some good products. You have to clip your ends as well, split ends get real rough!

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

I'M NOT AFRICAN-AMERICAN, BUT I'M A PUERTO RICAN WITH DRY CURLY HAIR MYSELF AND THE BEST THING I'VE TRIED IS THE RESTORATIVE HAIR TREATMENT FROM OJON (THEY SELL THAT BRAND AT SEPHORA). THE TREATMENT CAN BE USED AS A DEEP CONDITIONER, A SUBSTITUTE FOR YOUR REGULAR CONDITIONER OR A FINISHING CREAM AFTER YOU STYLE YOUR HAIR. IT IS KIND OF EXPENSIVE BUT A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY AND IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH IT. THE BRAND ALSO MAKES ULTRA HYDRATING SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS.

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

im not an idiot. but i have the exact same kind of hair. do u have a perm. use things like "soft and beautiful" or "botanicals" to chemically straighten ur hair. if ur hair can't take chemicals use a very, very HOT hot iron called "Chi" (found at the hair salon). "soft and beautiful" works best on my hair. then, after that, curl it, either with rollers or a curling iron. this will make your hair very, very, very silky, sleek, and smooth. trust me. my hair is like that now. you should do this about every 1 to 3 weeks. depending on your hair type.

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

CHOLESTEROL TREATMENT

I have natural African-American hair and it is so dry a forest fire could break out on my head--?

I am feeling your pain Girlfriend! If I may offer some suggestions; they are:

1)Stay away from products that have petroleum or mineral oil. They offer no benefits whatsoever.

2)The Organic Root Stimulator line has been very beneficial to me and my hair dryness.

3)Olive oil massaged into your hair and scalp and left in overnight and rinsed out the next is good in combatting dry hair and scalp.

I hope that this helps!

Hope you get the answer you are looking for!

I have african american hair how can I make it curly?

You should get your hair rodded/roller set or you could always just braid your entire hair into about 7-8 cornrows and wet it just a little and wear the braids over nite and take them out the next day and your hair will have that krinkly curly look. There is also a product called frizz eaze by john frieda that has a curly serum that you can use.

I have african american hair how can I make it curly?

it depends on your texture of hair what you can do...if your hair is very frizzy and course..then a texturizer would work..don't comb it through until last step ..or it makes hair too straight...you can always relax and then gerry curl...you can also do this..shampoo condition, get this stuff

Has anyone (african american) here tried using Jojoba Wax on your hair?

no,i don't use any wax or pomade because it clogs the scalp and the hair will not grow

Has anyone (african american) here tried using Jojoba Wax on your hair?

maybe you should try using Shea butter it doesn't clog your scalp and it moisturizes. using light oil are good because they don't clog your scalp and jojoba oil is good.

well black hair is dry so you have to keep it moisturized cause dry hair breaks easier and black hair is fragile. protect your ends to keep it from breaking by using protect styles like a bun.

What stops African American hair breakage?

African hair is not designed to be chemically treated (Permed/relaxed) and when we do, we break/distroy the natural protein-bonds in our hair. But there are ways to keep your perm but have healthy hair that grows. You just have to care for it the right way:

I use "Just For Me" kids relaxer (Im 21, but Mixed, so I can't use the strong adult African-American perms because they break my hair.) Its better to use a weaker perm for your hair than a really strong one. A perm/relaxer that is too stong is the major cause in hair weakness/breakage.

I also use "Motions CPR" Conditioning Treatment every week. After you wash your hair, use CPR, put a plastic cap on and sit under a hooded/bonnet hard-hat dryer for 10 mins, then wash it out. (This is Deep Conditioning) This is the BEST thing you can do for damaged hair... hint *CPR (Critical Repair and Treatment). It really does repair your hair and make it so much stronger and grow fast too. It also keeps your hair healthy even if it already is. It's great!!!

I get my hair straighten once every season (spring, fall, winter, summer) so thats also the same time I get my hair trimed. You need to trim your ends too. This is very important to slowly get rid of those dead/split ends which causes moisture lost. Split ends causes your hair to break, because if it cant properly hold moisture, then causes your hair cutiles to open wider and break.

My hair is so thick, healthy %26amp; long from taking care of it and using the products below. I'll give you the links. You can find all of this at Wal-mart, Sally's, or any Black hair store.

Also our hair is made of protein (all protein), so you may want to look into your diet and make sure you are getting enough. Taking a women's multi-vitamin everday will make sure you are getting enough of it, along with calcium which our hair also loves. You have to take care of your hair from the inside and outside. Hair products take care of the outside. But you also have to check on the inside... your diet! to make sure your hair has what it even needs to grow and thicken.

I hope this is helpful to you.

you need a good conditioner and avoid alot of heat. i recommend triple silk conditioner by perfect results. keep your ends trimmed every 4-6 weeks, trimmed means half to 1 inch off anything more than that is a haircut. choose your stylist carefully.(cometologist)

What stops African American hair breakage?

If you perm your hair, stop.

Give your scalp a break to let new hair grow.

Wash your hair 3 times a week with shampoo that states "For damaged or dry hair". These shampoos contain moisture that will help your hair damaged or not.

If you use shampoos that don't state that it will strip your hair of moisture. You can tell that it strips when theres too much lather.

After shampooing get the most penetrating leave-in conditioner that you can get your hands on.

If it's possible find a conditioner that you can leave in your hair and skip a day without moisturizing.

Out of all the races black people have the driest scalp and we have the least moisture held in our hair strands.

Remember to moisturize every day or the dryness will build causing hair breakage.

What stops African American hair breakage?

dun know le, sorry cant help you.

What stops African American hair breakage?

Do not over process hair or get a perm or color too often. African American hair is dry and fragile at times. Find the shampoo for your hair type and wash your hair aobut once a week. Keep your hair trimmed to avoid split ends.

What stops African American hair breakage?

You really, need to give yourself a hot oil treatment once a month till you get your hair in shape then you can drop back to twice a month. To give it a kick start don't wash so often with shampoo just use a good cholesterol cream and work it in like shampoo every 3 days. Doing things to improve the outside is great but you need to take care of the inside too. So cut the sugar intake a lot then try and get some good oils in your body like extra virgin olive oil. Incorporate that in your diet.

Good Luck.

What stops African American hair breakage?

Wrapping at night and washing your hair at least once a week.

Try using Therma Silk shampoo and conditioner and use Africa's Best Oil for daily styling. Keep your inns trim too.

When curling African American hair, is it best to put paper on the curlers?

Landrys correct follow her advice

When curling African American hair, is it best to put paper on the curlers?

i dunno what mmnnmm is talking about but the paper thing is noneffective, its the curler the regular way and just keep it moisterized. dont curl your hair too often though

When curling African American hair, is it best to put paper on the curlers?

The end papers are okay to use they help keep the hair flat in the roller, but if you are using magnetic rollers you really do not need them. If you are using sponge or wire mesh rollers you do cause the ends can get a little frizzy. thank you for reminding me about the roller paper. I remember getting my hair fixed and getting to pull the roller papers off. :-)

What helps african american hair grow?

African American hair grows just like any other hair. But because African American hair is highly textured it is drier and more delicate than other types of hair. As a result it breaks more easily than other types of hair. This gives the false impression that it does not grow. To keep the hair on your head from breaking off using gentle hair care techniques and gentle hair care products and you will notice your hair growth. Avoid brushing, tight braids, tight curlers, flat ironing every day, relaxers (which cause unecessary breakage in most people who get them), etc. Use products made with natural vegetable oils. Avoid mineral oil and petrolatum in your hair care products.

What helps african american hair grow?

SAME AS ANY RACE VITAMINS AND A TRIM EVERY SIX WEEKS.

What helps african american hair grow?

Go to a hair Salon and they usually have a good selection of Black Haircare products. or Google (Black Hair Care)

What helps african american hair grow?

I think Africans Americans knows better.

What helps african american hair grow?

My wife was a black woman and she used do grow. Not sure if that is how you spell it though, but it seemed to help her hair grow.

What helps african american hair grow?

Keep your ends trim, avoid direct heat as much as possible like curling irons, do not over-process, I take GNC' Hair, skin and nail vitamins. If your hair is damaged try Revlon Fermodyl works wonders. And a good stylist that is into healthy hair care. Good luck!!

What helps african american hair grow?

Dreadlocks help it grow. My got them a year and a half ago and now they reach to the middle of her back. Wrapping your hair at night helps form breaking. Isoplus has a good line of haircare products too. Also it depends on your stylist. Sometimes they can mess up your hair, so get a good one. Also, pay attention to the stuff you already use. Some brushes can break off Arfican-American hair, and extreme heat can make it brittle. Make sure you keep your scalp moistuized, because a dry scalp can make your hair weak. If you prem your hair, get it trimmed every so often and touch up the roots because the roots can be weaker than the processed hair. If you use hair glue, use the remover to take it out, like Salon Pro Exclusives Super Hair Bond Remover. It works.

What helps african american hair grow?

i heard something about wearing braids helps i grow longer but i'm not sure

What helps african american hair grow?

Try fish oil vitamins and Biotin or Vitamin B. You will see results fast. But also trim it every six weeks.

What helps african american hair grow?

My friend is black and she took vitamin e and she said it really worked.

What helps african american hair grow?

Try to find products that work well in your hair and stick to them. Take vitamins and try not to have your hair in ponytail all the time it will break off and wrap it up and night or atleast cover it witha scarf to stop breakage.

What helps african american hair grow?

Basically hair loss effects African Americans the same way as it affects other cultures. Most hair loss occurs by the negative effects of DHT a hormonal byproduct of testosterone.

Women who have hair loss should see their doctor because there can be more serious causes than just local hormonal imbalance in the hair follicle.

The thing to consider if you are going to use a topical treatment such as Revivogen which is safe for women is to consider your usual hair washing habits.

Topical applications need to be applied every day and some require 2 or 3 applications a day. For example if you use Revivogen every other day you will experience a 50% drop in effectiveness. Topical application works great for men because men will wash their hair the next morning after applying a topical solution. Why wash? Because topical applications tend to leave a thin greasy film.

Best.

What helps african american hair grow?

ALL MANE 'N TAIL PRODUCTS HELPED ME AND I STILL CONTINUE TO USE THEM.

I am an African American female and I don't know what to do with my hair?

Normally i roller set my hair and wrap it up at night then in the morning i unwrap it and wear it down. But i am tired of looking the same i want to switch up my look a little bit. I was thinking about getting braids but im not really a fan of fake hair. My boyfriend suggested that i curl it but, that will only last a day.

Any other suggestions?

I am an African American female and I don't know what to do with my hair?

there are sooo many choices it's hard to say. but you can get one of those hair magazines (i usually get mine from the grocery store) and look through it for ideas that will go well with your face shape and hair length. i usually just leave my straight down or let it stay curly and down. it's it's a bad hair day i opt for a ponytail.

I am an African American female and I don't know what to do with my hair?

use glat on your hair it good to your hair

I am an African American female and I don't know what to do with my hair?

Leave it as God gave it to you.

I am an African American female and I don't know what to do with my hair?

go for braids

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

Take a comb and part your hair on the side where your hair is thinning. And swoop it around comb the piece of hair you parted and swoop it around. I do that for my moms hair and it makes a cute hairstyle.

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

it depends on if you are male or female,

If you are male go bald--that is seeexxy on black men

Female- weave or go with a differnt hairstyle

Elitist----%26gt; that is a really bad sterotype and take it from me a black girl with no weave, I have seen many, many, more white people get weave than black........

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

Dreadlocks . Then as long as one of the hairs in the dread are still hooked you get to claim all of them

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

Slick them back or like my hair stylist does you can get this spray for streaks (get black if your hair is black). You can spray that on and cover up your thinning sides. It does have alcohol in it so, I don't think you should use it everyday.

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

It's always difficult to cover up thinning hair, so what I would recommend is to shave your head. It sounds drastic, but after you can't cover up your bald spots anymore, shaving just makes it look cool. (I think so, anyways!)

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

I would wear my hair with a part down the middle and lay it flat to cover the sides (if you're talking about where the side burns would be.) If gel works on your hair, use that to keep your hair in place.

If you're a guy get a hair cut where you can have the back of your head trimmed down to the level of the thinning hair, with the top styled. (If you don't mind the old "fade" cut look). Or go bald and grow a goatee......it'll draw attention away from your head, plus some of us females love goateed men. *_*

Hope that helps.

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

Try parting your hair down the middle or to the side, and sweep your hair towards your face. Play with the style some, and see what you come up with. Good Luck!

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

1#PART YOUR HAIR IN THE MIDDLE

2#TRY SIDE BANGS OR SWOOPS

3#A QUICK WEAVE OR A SEW IN

4#MIX SULFUR 8 ROSEMARY OIL AND SOME BAKING SODA

2 GETHER.TAKE A SOFT TOOTHBRUSH AND SCRUB SOFTLY FOR 5 MIN.THERE IS THIS OIL U CAN FIND IN THE HAIR STORE CALLED WILD GROWTH OIL (IT HAVE A STRONG SMELL TOO THE BEST TIME TO USE IT IS A NIGHT)

RUB THE OIL FOR A MIN TIE HAIE UP WITH A SILK. IF U WEAR BRAIDS TRY 2 LAY OFF THE BRAIDS FOR A MIN.IN THE MORNING OIL UR HAIR WITH ROSEMARY OIL(HERBAL STORE) %26amp;VIRGIN OLIVE OIL CAN GET IT OUT OF GROCERY STORE SO U WON'T HAVE 2 WALK AROUND WITH A ODOR.IF UR HAIR IS DAMAGE AROUND THE EDGES CUT ALL OF THE DAMAGE HAIR OFF SO U CAN START OVER FRESH.THE HAIR STYLES I WROTE AT THE BEGING SHOULD COVER THEM AREAS TILL THEY GROW BACK.

HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YA

HOLLA BACK

I am african american how do i cover up my thinning hair sides so that no one can see them?

In addition to covering up the thinning sides... How about identifying why the sides are becomming thin?

Are you male or female?

Is your hair chemically processed (relaxer damage) ?

Too many weeves/braids stressing your hairline

Baldness run in the family?

Lots of scenarios that will cause balding sides.. Fix the problem if possible while trying to cover it up.

Hair care products for seriously damaged African American hair? Thank You?

Okay, you should use Doo Grow, you can find it everywhere even walmart. Also Ive started using John Fridda, I didn't think it was for our hair but come to find out the conditioner and the additional hair products are excellent. They don't make my hair heavy or hard like other gells and sprays {which i don't use}, but they keep it light and bouncy.

Hair care products for seriously damaged African American hair? Thank You?

I use Profectiv and Wild Growth Hair Oil. Profectiv has a line that lets u pick what products u want to use for whatever the problem with ur hair is. They're real good. But they do have a lot of products. I use their Mega Growth line and every night I'm putting something in my hair. Since that could cause build-up I was my hair every weekend. I use the Wild Growth Hair Oil 3 times a week (like the bottle says). I swear by it. If u don't want to put a lot of products in ur hair just use the Wild Growth. It is very, very, very good. Which ever is easiest for u.

Question about African-American hair?

For my sista's...is there a way to have that curly/wavy natural look if you already have a relaxer?

Question about African-American hair?

I would shampoo the hair and while it wet apply a leave-in conditioner. Comb it through a use a good amount of styling mousse. You can have some one do this or you could try it yourself... anyway, you will begin to do a twistie on your scalp as if you are twisting hair like you would on little girl's pony tails, except you do that on the scalp. Its almost like you are doing a cornrow, except you are only using two strands of hair all the way back to the nape of the neck. Once you get to the end, wrap your hair on a roller. Continue this and then sit under the dryer until dry. Take off rollers and apply some " HOT SIX OIL" to your hands and carefully unwind your cornrow twistie. Make sure to oil the hair as you go along, otherwise if you do it at the end it will frizz. You will come out with a natural wavy hairstyle. ANOTHER TIP: if you desire a larger deeper wave, create more cornrow twisties(6-8). If you want a smaller tighter wave like you do even more twisties (15)

Hope this helps!

Question about African-American hair?

Get a weave.

Question about African-American hair?

because ice place

Question about African-American hair?

there is no such thing you are one or the other IE you are an African, black or an American white

Question about African-American hair?

Well several ways depending on the texture of your hair. Even with a relaxer if your hair is curly when you wash it can stay curly if you condition and leave it out. there are many products now for those who want curls as well. Try a curl volumizer or restorer of some sorts. then there is always my fav option... wet and wavy weave. this is the most assured way to have curls although your hair may be relaxed. The natural look is in style and there are many weaves around that look so natural even i am jealous.. ( i have natural hair , locs actually). You can have it in a ponytail or get it weaved into your head. weave is a good way to give relaxed hair a break... good luck to you !

Question about African-American hair?

try.you would have to come out of pocket, but it looks real good.

Question about African-American hair?

i would try a twist/braid-out or a bantu set. Try the sites below for further instructions.

Are Dominican Hair Stylers good for African American Hair Care? Do they grow your hair or make it co

I have not been to an dominican hair salon but have heard the same thing about the heat. I would suggest you try the egyptians. I have been to them a few times and they can get the straight, but the length of time it last depends on the type of hair you have and the styles you keep it in. I like to wear my hair in various fro styles, so it only stays straight for about a week. But I don't get it straighten very often. Good luck!

P.s. They are scissor happy and will put your hair in layers in a minute. I always tell them no because it takes my hair longer to grow with layers.

Are Dominican Hair Stylers good for African American Hair Care? Do they grow your hair or make it come out?

i am dominican and blacks are like us were from african desent and are hair are very alike dominicans and black are the same just that we speak spanish and if you think dominican hair care is good for you then go ahead you won't be disappointed Report It

Are Dominican Hair Stylers good for African American Hair Care? Do they grow your hair or make it come out?

I am not Dominican nor am I African American. However, I have come to realize that Dominicans are very skilled when it comes to styling hair... no matter what type you have. My hair is not kinky but it is naturally wavy so not many hair stylist know how to work with it. Dominicans have never had a problem straightening it. I was ALWAYS a satisfied customer with the results. Good luck! :)

P.S. I have seen many African Americans at the Dominican places I've been to in the past. I can assure you that they'll do a great job for you too!

Are Dominican Hair Stylers good for African American Hair Care? Do they grow your hair or make it come out?

The Black girls at work said that no one gets nappy hair straight like Dominicans. They said they are skilled at using the straightening comb as oppossed to a flat-iron. I thought this was odd. I would be worried about breakage though. One of the Black girls at work said they get the comb way too hot. She doesn't have much hair left at the back of her head. She said it was burned out. Hope this helps.

Are Dominican Hair Stylers good for African American Hair Care? Do they grow your hair or make it come out?

I think it depends on how strong your hair is..they can straighten hair without chemicals and it looks great..but it *is* a lot of heat. I know some people that just get the roots done. Also make sure they use a heat protector spray or bring your own. I go to the Dominican Salon once in a while and don't get chemicals from them..

Are Dominican Hair Stylers good for African American Hair Care? Do they grow your hair or make it come out?

I think Dominican Salons use too much heat. I think you should only go to them on special occasions. I am African-American and has seem plenty of my friends hair suffer from breakage due to extreme heat styling. I would shy away plus they do not do hair care at all and use poor products.
