yes you can ,that just make it black ,You can use hydrogen peroxide to lighten it then any colour you like

I wouldnt really try it, i think hair tint for african american hair would be more resistant. Also please avoid home kits, they have much more harmful chemicals in than normal hairdresser products. They may say 'no ammonia' but still has hydrogen peroxide. Any perminant hair treatment has this chemical in.

Because you have dark hair, no haircolour will lift to a higher shade unless you use bleach. BUt because of your hair colour, the bleach might take alot of time to lift and may turn a pale orange/yellow colour. Its better to go to the hairdressers for this one really. May cost more but at least you wont be wasitng money on products that dont work!

Be very careful, afro-carribbean hair is a completely different structure to eurasian hair. You can buy tint to make your hair darker specifically for caucaian hair. How dark do you want to go? You can go to the darkest black.

Black hair won't lighten with regular dye. Loreal has a line of dyes calle Hi-Lift Browns for people with black hair. I've heard it works pretty well and if your willing to experiment, give it a shot. Go to your beauty supply (as they will probably be the only place you can find it) and make sure to ask a colorist for help! Good Luck :)

You can try it but depending on the shading of your hair and if you've dyed it before you may not get the results you want. What I suggest is getting the dye you want and doing a strand test. It will show you what color the dye will turn your hair.

My mom is African American and I relax and dye her hair but the best dye I've found is actually going to the local hair store and buying the professional stuff I happen to like Clairol.

Going from black to brown will likely leave a red tint or a brassy tint unless you lift it first. So depending on how much work you're willing to do a salon or beauty school might be worth it.

My hair is this side of ink black so personally I got to the asian market and buy the dye for asian hair because its always worked decently for me.
