How do you properly deep condition african-american hair at home?

I was wondering are there certain products that an African-American woman would have to use on color-treated hair when deep conditioninghair...and oh how often should I deep condition my hair a month...? THANK YOU!

Deep condition about once a month. (Every other week if you like, depending on the condition of your hair.) If your hair is color-treated, you want to be using a conditioner for color-treated hair if you are trying to preserve the color. Otherwise you can use a good moisturzing conditioner to deep condition. Just apply the conditioner, then cover your head with a plastic bag or a shower cap and sit under a dryer for at least 10 minutes on low heat. Or you can just do some housework or homework with the cap on for at least 30 minutes. Also try protein treatments once a month and hot oil treatments once a month.

Some regular conditioners that make good deep conditioners:

Redken

Matrix Biolage

Paul Mitchell

Mizani Moisturefuse

Good deep condtioners:

V05 Total Hair Recovery (comes with plastic cap)

ORS Replenishing Pak

Mizani Fulfyl

Hope this helps.

I'd definitely recommend the Anahita's hair Butter from Warm Spirit. It is formulated with herbs, pure essential oils of warm amber and sweet vanilla- moisturizes great and also smells luscious. Visit www.warmspirit.org/joyishere for a FREE sample and catalog. Report It

I know this may sound nasty ,but, Mayonnaise and a heating cap , sit under the dryer for like 1/2 hour, or wrap the plastic cap up with a hot towel, then shampoo as usual, do it like 2 x's a month the protien and eggs are good for sheen and strength
