I think you should be safe with it somewhere over the middle setting, in between middle and high. Also, try to find a product that you can put on your hair before applying heat, it will protect it. These can be found in salons.

Gold n' hot is the brand @ sally's and the hottest setting is fine it will not burn your hair if you are black but if you have thinner hair might want to try 25....All I can say is try the middle temperature (chances are that's not going to get it as straight as you want) then gradually increase to your preference I use 35 (the highest) haven't burned any hair out yet....(well not with a flat iron at least the hot comb that's a different story).

One way to test if the comb is to hot is by touching it to her hair if her hair turns white it is burnt and the comb is too hot, the most important thing is that you use some kind of pressing oil like softee or african pride.
