They're ugly, so, yes, they're bad.

They can snap the hair which makes the hair line go futher back, making your fod look bigger.

Are braided extensions bad for African American hair?

i dont know about braids but extensions are bad for hair in general because they have to attach it directly to the hair so sometimes it frazels and after you take them out they have to cut all the hair underneath where the extension

Well it depends, you have to let a perfessional take it out the right way and it ok. I also hear that while you have the extensions your hair grows. And also it's gorgeouse when you get it, Work that weave.

Yes believe it or not.Placing them in pulls the hair and good heavens, every time you take them off you really lose hair because (okey, okey,I know we normally lose hair But...)when you leave them in for such a long time, your real hair breaks at the roots or gets pulled out from the roots.Hair gets weak afrom wearing all that weight on your head and eventually snaps off.If I were you I would start conditioning my hair.I hope that answers your question.Plus it hurts when you take them out and your real hair is with it.Ouch!

I don't think so, and they look gorgeous. go for it!

Are braided extensions bad for African American hair?

It depends on how they are put in and taken out...but like everyonce else said, their beautiful!

I have kinky twists that I've had in for 2 months and they still look awsome (I have pics on www.myspace.com/sncook) and its so easy and still loose on my hair. In about a month I had a inch of new growth (and to us relaxer sistas...thats a lot in a month)!

Go to a professional and make sure you ask them to protect your hair from breakage. Also, treat your scalp with oil AND grease or whatever you like...(I use Dr. Miracle temple and nape treatment,, shampoo/condition and tingling oil) and I'm telling you, my hair grew sooo long!

Good luck!

Are braided extensions bad for African American hair?

i dont think they are. i get them sometimes and it has made my hair grow. just make sure to tell them not to do them to tight around the edges because that will make the hair along the temples thin and fragile.

Are braided extensions bad for African American hair?

nope they are not ...just as long as you are taking care of them the right way your hair will not get damage unless it was previously damage before you put the hair in......braided extensions are actually better than putting the glue in your hair....

Are braided extensions bad for African American hair?

No braided extensions are designed for African American hair because of the texture of our hair. We have the S curl pattern naturally so braids lock better. Now anything you get done for your hair can be bad if you don't take the correct precautions to maintain it and keep it healthy. Hopefully you are letting a professional put them in. If so she can suggest what schedule she wants to put you on as far as conditioning and maintaining. And when you are getting them out, of course, you don't want to do it yourself, you again want a professional to do it, unless she has instructed you otherwise. I wear microbraids often but I also do deep conditioning treatments on my hair whenever I take them out. I shampoo my hair with my microbraids. Some people don't recommend this. But I have great results. Keep your hair and scalp moisturized and conditioned and your ends trimmed in between styles and you should not have problems with any style you choose...........P.S. Remember to wrap your hair at night, keeps the frizzies away............

I don't like them. As others have said, it can make hair along the forehead more fragile. They've heavy, and frankly look juvenille. Try straightening your hair or putting it in a bun or something.

Are braided extensions bad for African American hair?

In general, yes they are damaging. But almost everything you do to your hair is damagaing. If the braids are done properly %26amp; by a professional you are on the right track. They also have to be taken care of %26amp; not left in too long. If you leave them in too long, your hair will start to lock %26amp; then when you try to take them out you'll end up really breaking your hair off. . you may even have to cut them out. Also if the braids are put in too tight (especially around the edges) you may end up breaking your hair off where the braid begins. So anyone considering braided extensions. . i highly recomend going to a professional %26amp; getting advice on the care %26amp; matience of them.
