My hair at the crown is broken due to constant itching? Around my edges is also broken on one side and at the back of my neck. I get a relaxer every 4-6 weeks and I get two washes and sets a month by a licensed beautician at the mall. I would like to have healthier hair and consistent maintenance between washes and retouches. As an adult, I am trying to take better care of my hair. I'd like my hair to be thicker and full like it was when I was 13. I am now mid twenties. My hair has been through a lot over the years. I just started wearing a Satin Bonnet over the last two months.Will this help?Where am I going wrong? Help!

I can advise you that african hair needs special attention. First of all you need to scrap the numerous relaxing sessions try relaxing at least once every four months in order to allow for growth to appear. Secondly you should apply scalp moisturiser every two days but since your hear is breaking you should try VIRGIN hair food. Also don't wash it so often, it dries your hair out and the drier finishes it off so do it as few times as you can. But just moisturise. Don't put any weaves on. Let your hair do its thing. Or if possible cut to a shorter more equal length and let it grow evenly from there. You may need to get to the root of the problem that causes the itching. If you have a scalp disorder that causes you to itch, remedy the problem and your hair may return. Also, check w/ your beautician or a dermatologist to make sure you don't have alopecia which causes your hair to either fall out completely or in patches around your head-specifically where you stated you have issues. Black women have started to have this problem as of late b/c of the styles we're wearing such as weaves, braids, and styles that pull the hair back tightly. If you wear any of those types of styles, I suggest switching to less stressful styles. Also, have your beautician check the type products she uses. You could be having an allergic reaction. Yes a Satin bonnet will help. Satin or silk keeps the necessary oils that your hair needs to be healthy in place wile you sleep at night. The worst thing you can do is sleep with a cotton scarf or bandanna... bad mistake... You also may want to buy a satin pillow case( it cost about $ 4.00 and the beauty supply store) You need to drink more water and get a deep conditioner every time you go to the salon. You also need to get your ends clipped every time you get a relaxer.. your hair ends split from normal every day combing and brushing. The stylist may be using chemicals that are too strong for your hair type. You need to try Dr. miracle temple and nape grease and try his hot grow grease. This should work and you should start seeing changes with in a month.!!!!:)
