How do you make african american hair grow long ?

OMG! Isn't that the question! While I certainly don't have the clear cut absolute answer to that, I'll pass along what I've learned in my own quest for long luscious hair. An aricle I read said, "Hair growth depends on a lot of things, and there is no quick fix or magic pill to grow hair. For one thing, the rate at which your hair grows and how long it may get depends a great deal on genetics." (http://www.blackhairmedia.com/article_ha... It goes on to say nutrition, using the right products and a good regimen, an little stress all play a part in healthy growth.

I know for a fact that styles that burn your scalp, dry out you hair, and pull out hair (like too tight pony tails and micro braids) cause all types of problems like traction alopecia. I suffered from some of those problem myself.

I'd say make sure your products have lots of good protein rich food extracts and oils, take a multi vit or hair vitamin to close any gaps you may have in your diet, and moiturize and condition your hair well.

Watch out for this stuff in your store bought products

Of course none of these people are the authority on growing Black hair, but everyone pretty muchis on the same page with about the same information. You can't use what everyone uses, because not everything works for everybody, but it comes down to "Garbage in, garbage out" with your hair and body, I feel. Put stuff that works in your hair, and healthy stuff in your body, and baby your hair when styling and you should get positive results. Hope that helps.

Reduce the amount of heat and chemicals you put on it. Use good conditioning products made for your hair type. Instead of blow-drying, wrap it. It also depends on the condition of your hair.

Hair grows at an average rate of about 1/2 inch per month. so if its protected properly you should get 6 inches a year .but If your hair is breaking at the same rate of your growth, it may seem as though your hair is not growing at all. So definitely use the protein treatments to stop the breakage. Also poor nutrition can be the cause. There are several essential nutrients that your body needs to maintain and produce healthy cells. I am going to recommend that you start using the Vitamins to improve increase your growth rate. although vitamins are naturally found in healthy diet but food processing make it worthless,Also, the MSM lenghthens your natural anagen phase, which allows your hair to grow much longer. Your anagen phase, or growth phase, is genetically determined and limits the maximum length that your hair can reach. The hair growth phase (anagen phase) is one of three phases (growth, resting, and shedding) your hair goes through during its cycle. For example, a person with a 2 year anagen may only grow hair to their shoulders before it enters the resting phase. On the other hand, a person with a 4 year anagen will grow hair down their back before it enters the resting phase

-supplementary vitamins and minerals + fruit and vegetables extract for hair and nails

- omega3 / or cod liver "fish oil" capsule

- flax seed oil capsule or flax seed oil could be added to food "salad"

- garlic oil capsule "odorless"

- silica %26amp; MSM pills

minimize manipulation as possible , the idea of brushing hair to increase blood circulation to the scalp dose not apply to curly hair because it will break instead do scalp massage

if you are in overall good health condition what you need is a full hair care regimen

- to protect a curly hair you should understand that its dry because the natural oils are prevented from moisturizing the hair from the scalp by the curls even when the scalp might be oily , and more then that in every curl there is a weak point with more tendency to break

the solution would keeping it mosturized all the time by not washing hair more than 3 times a months with shampoo and using only conditioner when ever you feel like washing it

when washing do "CWC"condition ,wash ,condition.

dilute the shampoo in water in other bottle before applying it to the hair ,after towel dry apply the leave in conditioner.

It is a good idea to use protein treatments to prevent breakage and rebuild hair structure.hot oil treatments to seal in moisture, wearing you hair in a protective hairstyle where it doesnt rub against your clothes, or even at night on a rough pillow just wear head scarf,

minimizing manipulation to decrease the brakage possiblity ...braids is a good solution if you know how to take care of it
