You should develop a routine. Try to wash your hair every week. I started doing that and my hair seems stronger, shiny and I get less breakage from doing it. Before I shampoo I make a "prepoo" which has extra virgin olive oil, honey, carrot oil and a little of my conditioner. I put in my dry hair for about an hour. I put a shower cap on it because it tends to drip after a while, then I shampoo. For shampoo I use Silk Elements (got a Sally's Beauty Supply), conditioner I use VO5 because it's cheap and effective and for my leave in conditioner I use Garnier Fructis sleek and shine which works wonders in my hair. I would also recommend Nexxus and Garnier products. You also have to moisturize your hair everyday. I know it may seem like a pain but you will see results! For my daily moisturizing I use Motions. Also invest in a good hair straightener like CHI or Soila or Sedu with a heat protectant serum. Get your hair trimmed once in a while also to get rid of the split ends.

Hair grow 1/2 inch a month so have patience. Also I found this hair forum that talks about having great hair for African American women. It's very informational and I would recommend it. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

i dont know about creme of nature...but dont use dr miracle...thats just a gimmick...and tresemme will work better for caucasian hair...i already have the big bottle of moistyure shampoo in my bathroom...it dried it out...and garnier is fantastic....i dont know about pantene...but i would suggest u not to use it...DONT USE IT. right now...im not using garnier...i went to sally beauty supply...and i got the Loreal Natures therapy shampoo and conditioner for dry overprocesses hair...and i got the deep moisturizing treatmeant from them too. for both together it cost me about 20 bucks...ok nevermind, lol it cost my DAD about 20 bucks. =]

anyways....you can try that...it works great for me and smells good too! but i cant tell which one is better...garnier or this one...but im using this cuz i think it might be better...but for your hair...i wil say get the curls shine garnier shampoo and conditioner. i know u might wanna say about the moisturizing garnier...or the length and strength garnier...but i am mixed..and got curly curly tight curly hair. and their shampoo is creamy. here is a tip...if the shampoo is transparents....usually its not moisurizing enough for your hair.....it will dry it out. their curly shampoo is creamy...and smells good....and i swear...thats the FIRST shampoo ive tried that i had actually cleaned my hair of the gunkiness without stripping my hair horribly!!!!! its just awesome.

now if u want ur hair to grow...mane nt ail is the answer....ive never used it...but many people have and claimed their hair has grown faster...and my sister who is also black...she says it made her hair grow fast too. but the shampoo and conditioner itself is horrible...it leaves a waxy coating on the hair while drying it out..and leaving your hair feeling nasty. even my sister didnt like it...but she used it for growth. take a multi vitamin or any vitamin with biotion in it....and get your protein in. that should help growth...also massafe yourscalp for 15 minutes everyday...that creates bloodflow to the scalp.

now if u have any damaged hair...CUT IT ALL OFF. dont care about the length...just get it all off. girl listen...i had to get 3 inches cut off my hair...and when straightened it, it only go to my shoulders....when curly it goes to my chin and its poofy...so i know what im talking about...your hair wont grow with the damage...TRUST ME.

as for the oil...i have actually found that oil makes my hair nasty and greasy...you know oils like blue magic and softee? welll that stuff IS greasy...it has pertroleum in it..and mineral oil...which clogs the follicles stopping growth. but i got this oil...its called parnevu carrot oil....and it doesnt have petroleum in it or anything. it cost me 5 bucks tho. the stuff with petroalum in it cost me 3...petroleum is cheap. the stuff that doesnt have that nasty stuff in it is creamy like..but its still oil. trust me. anyways....i used to use that for my scalp cuz i have dry scalp. but yeah. i dont use it anymore...this is what i got which works so much better.....its at walmart get the Olive Oil Sheen Spray. its from Organic Root Stimulator...i take their spray and spray it on my roots. okay...i wash my hair everyday...cuz im mixed...and my hair is different than yours....so yeah...u should wait 3-4 days before u wash your hair. but when my hair is wet...i dont spray it on my hair....i take SMALL sections of my hair...and i lift it...and i make sure to spray the spray directly on the roots and scalp.....and then i continue doing this all over my head...it will take u about 10-15 mnutes to do it good. and then i go to bed....because i cant stand my hair so short and curly because its poofy from being short...so i straighten it...and when i straighten it...its greasy when i first do it...but when i go to bed and wake up..its not on my pillow or anything...and its just right. oh yeah...i forgot to tell u....when you spray onto a section of the roots....take a wide tooth comb and comb it through...so its lightly on the hair......but at the scalp mostly.

okay...girl, i hope i helped.

DONT GET A RELAXER...please dont. alright?

alright...hope i helped. =]

In order for your hair to grow healthy(no matter what nationality), you have to be healthy inside first! It is a fact that people who have a good, healthy diet, have more healthy skin and hair. You can, and should, take a mulit-vitamin everyday( prenatals are wonderful for your hair). Also, you have to condition, condition, and condition even more for your hair. Never shampoo without following up with a conditioner. I love Dove shampoo, it really leaves my hair soft and smelling great! I then use Tresemme conditioner. I leave that on for about 30 minutes (with shower cap). After I rinse, I follow up with Infusium leave-in conditioner. Try to avoid as much heat as possible. Switch up your style with wet-sets. Wrap your hair at night, so it will be easier to maintain in the morning. Put oil in your hair!!! A must! Try Olive Oil sheen spray everytime you style. Motions also has some great hair dressing cremes that you should apply before you go to bed. All of these things I have listed have worked for me, and my hair is long and healthy. I get regular trims too to keep the split ends away.

Personally speaking....

Braids are the best route to go, when wanting to grow your hair out. I use to have a Perm in my hair, but found that it was not good for my hair. I did braids, do not do the micros, and since I had them in for 2 years, changing them every 2-3 months....my hair is down to the middle of my back now. And it is all natural, which yes means it is nappy.

But if you do decide to go the braids route, I would suggest using the 'Go-go' hair that is already wavy looking. Then have they stylist, braid until they get to the end of your natural hair length....and let the rest loose. It looks really nice. And then make sure to purchase hair spray that conditions your hair as it is braided.

If you do not wish to do the braid route(you won't have to do your hair), you should wash your hair every 2 weeks, and everyday put frizz free Aloe Vera in your hair, and make sure to wrap it up at night. Make a trip to your local stylist every 6 weeks to get your hair trimmed, so that your hair grows healthy.

Oh, and NO CHEMICALS! They damage your hair, try to go natural if you haven't already.
